All recorded live and rough in the studio as we were ‘practicing’ with minimal post processing. This is the first update of many weekly audio updates that we will be posting over the short duration of The Summer Experiment. These may or may not represent a fixed state of sound but they definitely express the current (as of 20-07-08) sound of the experiment. With the organic evolution of The Summer Experiment the same ‘tracks’ might make it into the next update but may sound completely different depending on where the evolution leads us.

Please step inside and have a listen. If you feel inclined please leave us feedback and comments on what you see and hear, whatever you think about it (however short or long, good or bad!) as we want to keep this a very inclusive experiment as you join us along the way.

What happens when a band is faced with its own end before it even gets off its feet? Would this knowledge change their plan of action? Could it change the band’s dynamic? Could it even change the music?

The Experiment is exactly this: a ‘band’ in its dying days from before you had even heard of them. Faced with the inevitable departure of members for careers and study; they know this isn’t making it to the 1st EP release, nevermind enjoying the pleasures of having their major record label contracts nullified because their music is so heavily pirated. Ok ok…it all sounds very doom and gloom. But it is what it is…no strings attached…just creativity. Doing what you can while you can.

This is what we’ve decided to make of Summer 2008. We’re not recording our new EP. We’re not going to hassle you with flyers in the street. We’re not pouring our money into a dead-end tour. We’re not following the local radio producer or continually hassling the musical media to accept us.

Hell no.

We have a few weeks left together and we’d like you to show you our thoughts and energies processed into sound and word. Sometimes improvised, sometimes not….sometimes perplexing, sometimes not. We’re not here to make a band image and force our music down your throats…but we will be reminding everyone of the amazing things that happen when artists just allow themselves to create.
